Lessons in love

I was young and naiive
And didn’t know the meaning of love
Found it hard to understand
What was so clear to everyone else
Was caught up in things I couldn't fathom
In a web of confusion and misunderstanding
I had no way of clearing
Until you came along
And changed the way I saw things
You helped me rediscover who I was
And take pride in what I was
And even though we’re not meant to be
Even in the final act
You looked out for me
You showed me the way
To a higher purpose
You led me to fulfillment
And went your way
For that I am blessed
We will always be friends
In the way friends are meant to be
Well wishers who mean the very best
And not casual acquaintances
Or people who foster bitterness.

#Pinthecreep, honey!

A girl walks down a busy street And is leered at by some creep A catcall, a rude remark, a whistle, Making her in her discomfort, bristle Girls are often mocked and taunted And they find it hard to carry on, undaunted Let’s put an end to this #streetharassment The next time a jerk tries to act funny #pinthecreep, honey!

To my mom and dad on mother's day

You cradled me against your bosom When I was a wee babe But those memories are lost in life's daze And I spent my adolescence fighting with you Coz those were years that I didn't have a clue It was in my twenties That we grew close I understood the sacrifices you made For me to live a better life and succeed more No one will believe how much you've done for me Except maybe my father Who's done equally The two of you are so dear to me And I will love you forever more, That's a guarantee
