Peace

It's like a soft fluttering feather  that settles upon your heart when you know deep down that what you've done  is the right thing and there are no regrets whatsoever...

Ghosts of a season past

As I wake up from sleep I recall dreams Fragments of yesterday Scattered in my consciousness Like golden-brown leaves in Fall From a wintry dark desolate place Memories of yesterday A place and a time That once was Now given way to newer experiences That replace the old With a soft yet swift tread But I know not what lies ahead.

Alone vs. lonely

Being alone is not so bad It’s not the same as being lonely I may be alone, but I’m never lonely Coz of books, friends, writing and poetry So rather than let a man in Who will disrupt the peace I choose to keep men out And not be a tease!

Trust

When your head hurts Like your brain is bleeding When your eyes can barely see For your vision is clouded The sound of your heartbeat Is the only thing you can trust

The open book

I've always lived life like an open book This causes more complications than it should I just believe life is short So why the facade But I sometimes forget That others have reputations they'd like to protect Me, I don't care for such things But from now on will tread with care When the lives of others I involve, to be fair

Time

I lay in bed thinking to myself Where does time go? Life is fleeting Moments vanish one after the other Like bubbles pop against the sky Transient; ephemeral Like a mirage in the desert Gone before you can reach it.

Kids

Some women want to be mothers  While for others like me cats are like children One might get insulted that I'm comparing the two But for me, a cat is what a baby is to you.

Proscrastination

Like everyone else, I have a to-do list Write. Edit. Edit some more. But to get to it Ah that’s something else Something I haven’t managed to do quite yet When will I start? When it seems so much easier To compose meaningless poems Such as this one from the heart Poetry releases That which is caught in my throat Gives it a form and shape Round. Square. Oblong. Some definition So rather than go to a shrink I sit down to write Coz it helps me think!

A story in verse

The Meeting We were meant to meet Yes, that’s what you say And I agree We are like one soul in two bodies Abundant, carefree; Yes, that’s how I feel When I’m with you All the darkness within Is vanquished Leaving just light Light that permeates my being And yours But aren’t we one? The Catharsis I’ve told you things That have lived on like cobwebs in my mind And that act Has dusted what was once jaded And made it real and true. I have let go of some demons But if I were to drive away all my demons within Wouldn’t I also lose my angel? Labels Love is a misused word; often sullied And open to misinterpretation Casting a shadow on what was once pure and true May the divine love I feel for you Never be flung on rocky shores For love is not possession But setting each other free. The separation You go your way and I go mine But when the path is the same How does it matter where we go We shall always be entwined

Bless You

Where are you now? I mistrusted you Accused you And wronged you in so many ways But your love was patient and kind Showed me the error of my ways I hope life offers you bounteous bouquets For you truly deserve them And may it be remembered  That God has chosen you To shower His blessings upon I hope your salvation is not delayed For you are a wondrous old soul Who should never more face pain

Mending a broken heart

Trust when it's broken Is the hardest to mend The heart is hardened And the mind numbed Dulled with pain Days stretch on to infinity And the nights, well, are the hardest  Your being is enveloped  In a murky web Of lies Betrayal Sadness Pain Tears don't fall anymore Your very heart is torn asunder Little things that brought you joy Offer no relief You are one among the walking dead Much to everyone's disbelief You learn the wrong lessons That trusting is bad When all it takes  Is someone to rekindle the spark That once ignited your soul And made it shine And then you're whole again Not because you needed another to complete you But you learned how to be complete  Within the boundaries  Of your body and soul

Nature's Landscape

The tall conifers inspire awe Snow-clad peaks  Rising behind them all White snow and blue sky You couldn't forget them  Even if you tried The towering regal trees Generating little breeze But catching the icy cold draughts Like giant wooden rafts Making you shiver And leaving you aquiver Slow, flowing rivers Of ice and snow At once majestic And gentle in their flow Cool and serene Scene after scene As you look out the window  And long for more.

Missing you now

I listen to the sound of the waves And my heart for you craves The whisper of the leaves on the trees The buzzing of the bees The sunlit petals of each pretty flower Nature's cool and refreshing showers Make me realise it's you I desire Your warm embrace Your loving gaze Your special sunny smile Takes me that extra mile I love you and miss you I can't wait... For us to be together again

Uncertainty

We sit in the dark  You and I  Listening…  For the sound of hope  Of a future  That may lie  Only in both our hands  And yet  Is prey to the ravages of fate  We sit in the dark,  You and I  Wondering…  If we will laugh once more  That shared smile  Of understanding and togetherness  Of dreams we spun  Out of the silver cobwebs of our minds  Of lives entwined  By a single purpose  One that seems to have been set adrift  In a sea  Of uncertainty  Discarded, abandoned, forsaken  Only momentarily? Or forever?  The day we can answer that,  Is the day black clouds will precipitate  To bring rain  Rain-that will wash away all the pain  And make us whole again.

What's in a name?

When you live in society You live with a name My name is Aishwariya Although I’m also called Ash, Aishu and Satya What’s so important in a name You may ask And quote “A rose by any other name smells just as sweet” To that I answer, A name is your identity Similarly, there are nameless relationships These are dangerous as hell Coz they play games with your mind And leave you caught in a bind Why live with this? Seek clarity in life Ask for what you want. If you don’t get it, move on. Lingering in confusion is weak It is also the gateway to madness Something no one needs.

Setting you free

Frozen, Jaded, Brittle and Broken You found me Breathed life into my lips And warmth into my soul Until you kindled a raging fire That melted the ice within And led to a warm glow That suffused my pallid heart And gave me a brand new start Now, nothing can ever tear us apart Not labels, not society Nor unnamed fears Or jealous tears For once we’ve realised what we’ve found Is precious and rare Why would we subject it to the world’s stares Nameless we may remain But bound in spirit Free to roam Wherever we wish I would never want to see you cry Or writhe in pain and agony For life is wondrous and beautiful When love is truly set free

Lessons in love

I was young and naiive And didn’t know the meaning of love Found it hard to understand What was so clear to everyone else Was caught up in things I couldn't fathom In a web of confusion and misunderstanding I had no way of clearing Until you came along And changed the way I saw things You helped me rediscover who I was And take pride in what I was And even though we’re not meant to be Even in the final act  You looked out for me You showed me the way To a higher purpose You led me to fulfillment And went your way For that I am blessed We will always be friends In the way friends are meant to be Well wishers who mean the very best And not casual acquaintances Or people who foster bitterness.

The Trinity

They say three’s a crowd But in our case We are a perfect trio Three souls interlinked By destiny But what binds us Is our complete lack of pretense Our genuine devotion To one another And an understanding so deep Wise old owls would weep For how is it possible For three people To have such a perfect bond We’ll be with one another Today and forever So don’t get swayed or disheartened If mere mortals are unable to understand For we have what it takes To sustain the perfect bond

From me to you

I loved you
From the very depths of my soul
 My heart opened to you
Like a flower in the sun
 You drew me to you
 With your honeyed words
 Your impish smile
 And your philosophy of life
I'm glad you say you can never hurt me
 For I feel loved
Even now when our time has gone
 And we've moved on
 With an understanding
 That love alone provides
 To nourish our souls
 And give us strength
 Through life's vicissitudes
 I shall always be grateful
 For what we shared
Was a "once-in-a-lifetime" kind of thing.
